Perfectionist Paralysis

Omg I haven’t written on this blog in a little over six months.  But I am happy to say that I am back. So much has happened (within the six months) that I’ve been gone, but to tell you the truth, I had to find my inspiration for this and my overall why. Another truthful moment, but I also had come to a point where I actually liked my blog and to be honest I didn’t. I didn’t like the layout and how it looked via mobile. To me it wasn’t easy and when it comes to sharing my life online, I wanted it to be less complicated as possible. I wanted my site to be easy and user friendly, I hated the way my header looked, it wasn’t authentically me, it didn’t resonate with me. I basically copied a format that I saw someone else do, but what works for the goose doesn’t always work for the gander - or however the saying goes.

So in true Virgo fashion, I didn’t post anything to my site because it wasn’t perfect. It wasn’t me. Over the past six months I discovered that I have something called  “Perfectionist Paralysis” meaning that if it isn’t perfect, it won’t get done. I realized that the fear of presenting something that just wasn’t true to myself, had kept me from actually performing.

So over the last few days, I researched, made thousands of keystrokes online, and purchased a few different templates from SKYANDSTARS.CO on Etsy.com before I actually found something close to what I was looking for. Also to be honest, this template isn’t perfect either but it’s close, and I don’t have another six months to waste. Not to mention Etsy suspended my account *rolls eyes*  so I had checkout using the guest feature.

On a more positive note, I like how my site looks now. Although it isn’t as perfect as I would like it to be, it’s better than what it was and it’s done. And maybe I’ll tweak some things in the future, but for now, I just wanted this project to be done because I felt stuck for six months. I even missed my one year blog-iversary So from here I hope you enjoy this content that I’m rolling out. I’m excited again for my blog and I hope that you will be too.

If there’s something that I learned from this experience, it is that done is better than perfect, unless you’re a Virgo, than it may take 6 months or it will never get done lol.

In all honesty, don’t get stuck on something for too long, figure out what works for you so that you can live your best authentic life.

The Path of Fulfillment

"If you do what you’ve always done you’ll get what you’ve always gotten." - Tony Robbins

Hi guys, in my quirky YouTube girl voice lol. We have officially made it to the final day of 2020 and I think it’s fair to breathe a huge DEEP BREATH and SIGH of relief as the year comes to an end.

Simply Gratitude

We’ve made it Thanksgiving 2020 and I couldn’t be more happier and grateful just to see another day this year. As energetically draining this year has been for everyone it’s important for us to keep going and to not sit and dwell on things that are beyond our control.

Pandemic Travel Edit Vol. #1 - Tulum

With the world pretty much on lockdown, and only a few countries accessible to Americans for leisure travel, my bf Marius and I decided to make our way to Mexico and visit the towns of Tulum and Riviera Maya. At the very beginning of the Pandemic when hotels started to close their doors to guests, we were supposed to travel to Europe. Unfortunately our plans changed. So we started researching places and countries to visit to not only celebrate my 30th birthday, but to also enjoy some time off the grid.  We split our trip between two towns and spent two nights in Tulum and two nights in Riviera Maya.

Let's talk SKIN!

Recently I have been getting more and more into the world of skincare. I mean after all, it is a multibillion dollar industry. As mentioned in my previous post, I am turning Flirty-Thirty this year and now is the the time to make sure that I am practicing good skin-care habits along with a  daily skin-care routine. Over the years, I've learned so much about my skin. I have oily skin which has a pro and a couple of cons.

Pros of Oily Skin
  • Because your skin is constantly producing oil, this keeps your face from drying out which will cause you less likely to cause wrinkles
Cons of Oily Skin
  • Acne. Acne. Acne. Since your oil glands are over-producing oils, your pores could become clogged which leads to acne, hyperpigmentation (acne scarring) and more
  • You'll walk around looking like a glowstick (shiny, especially in the summer months)
If you have oily skin, I recommend looking for products that are Oil free, Salicylic Acid, Vitamin C, AHA's and BHA's, Niacinamide and Fragrance Fee. Now it may be hard and very expensive to find really good products that contains all of those ingredients, however I decided to share a few of my favorite products that I am currently using to help me combat acne and stay oil-free this summer.

First up, if you are in the market for a really great cleanser I recommend Murad's Acne Control Cleanser

Murad  $12

Murad cleanser is great at control excess oil buildup and is clarifying without drying out your face too much. Its my holy grail cleanser which I will always recommend to anyone suffering with oily-skin and acne.

Next up, are two of my favorite Oil-free Moisturizers. Moisturizers are a great way to keep your face hydrated so that your natural face oils don't start overproducing.

           .
              Target $16.99                    Origins   $30

To help with acne scarring or any hyperpigmentation, here are a few products that I recommend:

 Sephora $49       Hanalei $4          Olehenriksen $16

Lastly, it's important to look in your moisture and all your skincare efforts by applying just a little oil to seal everything in. The face oil that I am currently using at the moment is Rose-Hip oil by Fourth Ray Beauty. I found it at ULTA for only $10
